Urban Decay Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette|Your Tool For An Effortless Everyday Look

Oh Urban Decay, you have once again fascinated me with your awesome product. I'm totally in love with the original Urban Decay Naked Palette, but the velvet packaging is really annoying. And since I also wasn't impressed at all with the Naked 2, I've been waiting for a new launch in this cult favorite collection.

This Urban Decay Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette contains 6 neutral shadows with 4 new and exclusive colors and 2 from previous collections.

  • Venus (new): shimmering cream color with satin finish
  • Foxy (Naked 2): cream bisque with matte finish
  • W.O.S (Build Your Own palette): beige shade with matte finish
  • Naked 2 (new): soft taupe color with matte finish
  • Faint (new): dusty brown with matte finish
  • Crave (new): dark black with matte finish

The upgraded rubberized packaging is a huge improvement, and the travel friendly size is easy for storage. Urban Decay does amazing craftsmanship on their product packaging. The letters on the front are actually embossed instead of just an imprint.

I really appreciate the fact that Urban Decay decided to not include an eyeliner or makeup brush in this palette, and the giant mirror is easy to use and is very useful.

This is a great palette to have for both natural and party looks. I use this for my office makeup and then again to create a smoky eye for after work gatherings.

The shadows have great staying power and gorgeous color payoff. On my oily eyelids, the shadows last for at least 6 - 7 hours, and their texture is extremely smooth and soft. Overall, this is just a great product to have, even if you already own the previous Naked palettes.

It’s the palette EVERY woman needs in her beauty arsenal.

  1. I love Urban Decay but this is something I wont be getting! It is great for every day and if you're extremely neutral but I would have liked to see more of a variety! The first 3 (and almost the 4th) colors are too similar to even count as different shadows!

    1. Katie, I have to agree with you that this would be for someone who usually wears neutral makeups.

  2. I admit, I'm not terribly excited by this launch, but I do get that it would be an *extremely* useful palette to have around--one that would get a LOT of use from me. Maybe I'll pick it up sometime soon but I'm in no rush

    1. I like the packaging too. I wish Urban Decay would have used this packaging on the original naked palette instead of the velvet, which I dislike a lot.

  4. I really only like the shade Naked2 and faint...the rest aren't so exciting...you get plenty of similar shades in other eyeshadows but I guess this would be handy for on the go due to its size! Glad you loved it!

  13. Lovely review, thank you. Do you think there are enough medium toned shades in this to stand on it's own? It's so lovely but I'm concerned that it's only light shades and dark shades.

    1. I would definitely prefer if Urban Decay would add in an extra medium toned shade and may be take out either Foxy or W.O.S. Naked 2 is a pretty nice shade and definitely be layered to get a bolder look if you are looking for a medium toned color.

  15. I can see how easily the Naked Basics palette could transform a neutral office look to a more dramatic night out look! Thanks for the swatches hun! xx

I went through a matte shade craze and purchased a palette of neutrals.. pinks, creams and a few browns and a black shade. I love how natural matte shades look when I contour with them.

    1. Thanks for following my blog Donna. I personally didn't really like the Naked 2 palette. I just don't think the tone of the shades suites my skin tone well, but I'm definitely loving this new palette.

  23. I'm not super familiar with Urban Decay but this palette seems pricey for the number of eyeshadows you get... and why are they mostly - of not all - matte? ):

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Gaby, the palette seems pricey but it's actually not. Urban Decay is somewhat of a higher end brand. For $27, you can 6 shadows in this palette. If you are to purchase these shadows individually, they are $18 a piece, so that is $108 worth of shadows. So I think the palette is actually a pretty good deal. Regarding why the shadows are mostly matte. I think it's because Urban Decay already had many satin finished and shimmering colors in previous palettes in this collection.

  24. I've never tried one of the Naked palettes but they all look so nice I'm so tempted! Although I think I prefer the other palettes to the basics as I like more golds and shimmery shadows!
