As I'm typing this review, a trip to my local Wal-Mart store is already on my schedule, so I can pick up more products from the new Flower Beauty created by Drew Barrymore. Yes! That's how much I'm loving this new line. Following my wonderful experience with the Beauty Balm BB Cream, I'm moving onto the Lip Service Lip Butter ($6.98 for 0.12 OZ/3.5g) in LB4 Princess & the Peony.
The clear top is dainty and beautiful, and the plastic tube is sturdy but light. It's a bit bulky compared to other lip products but can still be hold comfortably in one hand. The only part that I'm not too fond of is the white bottom, which feels cheap in person.
The sealed packaging adds an extra protection against tampering with the product inside. Please be aware that this name sticker is your only identification for this product as there is no other imprints or permanent information on the tube.
The lip butter has a faint floral scent, which is almost undetectable when applied onto the lips.
The lip butter comes in 9 colors. Princess & the Peony is a soft pink shade that feels light on the lips but provides great color payoff.
Flower Beauty claims that the buttery texture creates "an optical plumping effect", which I agree with to some extent. The smooth finish does provide a minimum and visual plumping effect, but that's true with most lip products. Our lips simply look better and juicier with a creamy lip product compared to dry and bare lips. But this can not substitute for a lip plumper if you are really looking for a fuller result.
Although not a holy grail material, this is an excellent product with minor flaws. It's creamy texture will not warrant a long lasting wear, but it sits on my lips quite well for about 2 - 3 hours. The only apparent disadvantage is the gradual disappearance of the lip butter, leaving behind a stained layer on the lips, which isn't too bad if you reapply this every few hours.
Overall, this is one of my best drugstore product discoveries. Its creamy and smooth application alleviates that rush morning routine. The pigmented finish and the shiny look will turn the spotlight on you, and the budget friendly price tag works great for everyone. What are you still waiting for? Grab them before they're gone.
